Spirit Airlines Baggage Policy: Fees, Size Limits & Free Personal Item

Spirit Airlines operates a transparent, tiered luggage policy where optional baggage costs less when reserved early.

Personal Item (Included Free for All Travelers)

Every passenger is entitled to bring one personal item free of charge:

• Maximum Dimensions: 18 × 14 × 8 inches (45 × 35 × 20 cm), including handles and wheels.
• Acceptable Items: Small backpacks, purses, laptop totes, or diaper bags.
• Storage Location: Must fit entirely underneath the passenger seat directly in front of you.

Standard Carry-On Baggage

Standard overhead bags are not included in unbundled base fares:

• Maximum Dimensions: 22 × 18 × 10 inches (56 × 46 × 25 cm), including handles and wheels.
• Fare Bundles: Included complimentary in Go Big and Go Comfy packages, as well as an option in Go Savvy.
• Storage Location: Must fit safely inside the overhead cabin bin compartment.

Checked Baggage Policy

• Weight Limit: Standard allowance is up to 50 pounds (23 kg) per checked piece.
• Size Dimension: Maximum 62 linear inches (158 cm) (length + width + height).
• Fare Package Inclusions: Included in Go Comfy (1 bag), Go Big (1 bag), and selectable in Go Savvy.
• Overweight Bags: Bags weighing between 51 and 100 lbs incur steep overweight surcharges. Bags exceeding 100 lbs are not accepted.

Strollers, Car Seats & Special Equipment

• Infant Gear: One collapsible stroller and one infant car seat can be checked free of charge at the ticket counter or boarding gate per traveling infant or child.
• Sports Gear: Golf bags, snowboards, ski equipment, and bicycles are transported subject to standard sporting equipment fees and weight limits.
• Mobility Devices: Wheelchairs and assistive devices are checked and transported free of charge in the cargo hold in accordance with federal regulations.
